New Shoes

After putting on a new pair of shoes i was surprised by how different i felt. I went into my next interview almost like a different person. When i crossed my legs i wasn't hiding my old (but comfortable) shoes. Anyway. Things went well and i have a new job to start next week! Was it my shoes. Not sure. But i did feel more confident and i am sure i was perceived that way. How would some shiny piece of leather make you feel better about yourself? I am not sure.

But i suppose one reason that springs to mind is that we have our inner self. Our Essence. We know who we are and have spent allot of time together with our selves (me personally, i have spent the majority of my life with myself!). But another person can only relate to us via our external garments. That is how we are perceived, and that is their entry point into our internal self.

Having nice shoes on enabled me to feel comfortable that external trappings would not hinder an inner exploration of who i really was.

Let me know your thoughts on why clothes make a difference.

Voice 1.9

There is email....there is blogging, there are forums, there are social networks. It is all words, videos and pictures.

HEY! What happened to Voice?

Where is Voice 2.0?
It is behind the game.

I was on the phone the other day to a job recruiter. They told me about a specific role that sounded right up my alley. I was walked in the street talking on my mobile phone. He informed me that as part of the recruiters code of conduct (or something similar) he needed me to reply to an email to confirm that I indeed wanted him to represent me.

I thought: Why couldn't he simply record a snippet of Voice - and hold that as my approval for him to represent. He could archive it, and maybe even CC me and his manager in on the Voice Snippet.

We discriminate against Voice, as an intangible - unable to commit, unable to provide testimony.

Career 2.0

I am now in the process of looking into various roles and job opportunities that i can move into.
I have had a great last couple of years working for Get me on Media. We developed cutting edge internet sites with a strong focus on sales driven websites. I had a great opportunity to work with some great people, i had an opportunity to peek into what was going to happen next online, and see it happen.

I learned alot and gained a deep appreciation of what can be achieved on the internet. Especially with how the internet is at the moment. Someone can create a short video on 'Free Hugs', post is on YouTube and get over 1 million views. Entire acting and music careers are spawning from virally transmitted media.

Large corporations are scrambling to keep up with what is happening online, even Google is scrambling. As soon as the large corporations and media companies have caught up they will have already missed the next boat. There is constantly a boat leaving, destination unknown.
I am looking to continue my career to offer my part in this constant boat launch. I would like to be part of creating and setting free as many of the boats that are trapped in my harbour. Repair their hulls and expose their majesty. Point them into the open sea and PUSH.

To what end? Liberating people. Empowering them, realizing that with technology and the internet...You can call the shots.... You can make a difference..... You can be Yourself.

We can be Ourselves.
